Loved this. It’s on my list to watch. I don’t know how I didn’t know about the future director’s cut! Do you think I should just wait?

Up to you. Obviously, the first version you see will color your overall impression. I think it makes sense to watch it now if you want to see Part 2 later this month. I personally like to watch all versions to see how they interact with one another, so the order doesn't matter to me all that much.

Great write up! I seem to be one of the few who didn't hate Rebel Moon's first part. It's kind of silly and doesn't entirely hold together, but I think that's actually sort of beside the point with something like this.

Thanks! I didn't hate it either. It just seemed kind-of a mid Snyder movie, with some occasionally baffling story and editing choices (which I might discuss in another Snyder article).

Ha, yeah. I just found it mostly fun! It's sort of like a rollercoaster. Just strap in, don't worry too much about this or that, and throw your hands in the air and holler at the appropriate moments. It may not be narratively satisfying but it's still a good time!
