This is great. I actually found this page via google. Ive read a few different interpretations of the film but like you, I felt the real story was the polish girl. I think it’s interesting that no one ever mentions the title of the movie. Inland Empire is a geographical place but I think the title also represents the world she creates in her head. Her Inland Empire. But empires rise and fall and her fantasy world, I guess you could say, comes crashing down as realty intrudes. I also think Grace Zabriskie’s character is key. I interpreted her character as being there to warn her that she could not escape. That there must be accountability. I enjoyed reading this very much

You know it's funny, I don't think I've seen many of Lynch's stuff. I know I've seen "The Straight Story" and at some point I'm pretty sure I've seen Mullholland Drive.
