A Guide to The Matrix Retrospective
A Special Navigation Menu for the ongoing project
In 2022, I began publishing a series of retrospective articles about The Matrix film franchise. On the one hand, I wanted to provide some insightful and constructive criticism of the films and their storytelling. On the other, I wanted to examine in-depth how the narrative of the first film evolved in the course of its making, and how it was subsequently altered by its sequels. Hopefully, by the end of the retrospective, which will likely span 10-13 issues, I will have accomplished both of these goals.
Initially, I planned to publish these articles across different platforms, which resulted in two of them being published on Medium, while the rest remain exclusive to this newsletter. To make it easier to follow, I made the following guide, which currently has links to every entry in the retrospective, and will be updated as new entries become available. Additionally, I’m including a section with supplemental posts that, while not part of retrospective, can help enhance one’s understanding of it.
